Principal Thornley’s Letter to the Community

Principal Thornley’s Video Message

Good Morning Cabrillo Community,

As we slowly transition from shelter in place to the reemergence of small outdoor gatherings for people in the same social bubble, please bear in mind the guidelines from the Alameda County Public Health Department:

  • Social Bubble is defined as a group of 12 or fewer people from different households

  • A Social Bubble should be maintained for a minimum of 3 weeks

  • Participation is restricted to only that one Social Bubble at a time

My wife and I, after three long months of shelter in place were able to enjoy a wonderful day at a local winery yesterday. It felt wonderful getting dressed up and getting out of the house.

We are set for our drop off and distribution of student items on Thursday, June 11. Please review the letter I sent last week with the guidelines for what to do before you come and what to do when you are at Cabrillo. We are only servicing families that have completed the survey sent out last Sunday and every two days thereafter. If you have completed the survey, there is no need to do so again. If you have not completed the survey, please do so today.

Drop off and pick up will occur on Thursday, June 11

El jueves 11 de junio se llevará a cabo de recoger y dejar los materiales

Cabrillo End of Year form

The district is using the Parent Portal for student report card grades for trimester 3 and Maze Day will be an online procedure for next year. This is good news for Cabrillo families because we have been conducting an online Maze Day for the past two years and were planning to conduct one this year as well. Families have been going to the Parent Portal to enter their emergency card information as well as other important information during our previous Maze Days. We will use the Parent Portal for next year’s Maze Day as well. I ask that you go to the Parent Portal today and attempt to log on. Please contact Mrs. Keith (lkeith@fusdk12.net) or Mrs. Fuentes (cfuentes@fusdk12.net) if you need assistance accessing the Parent Portal. Remember, you should already have log-in information for the Parent Portal. To access the Parent Portal, go to Illuminate Home Connection

Thank you to the families responding to the SSC form. I will send out electronic ballots in August 2020. If you are interested in joining our SSC, please complete the form linked in your email https://bit.ly/CabrilloSSC by Wednesday, June 10.

The yearbooks are delayed in processing and delivery due to the pandemic. We expect the yearbooks to arrive at the district warehouse by June 19th. Our plan is to distribute them in person at Cabrillo on a day to be determined the week of June 22nd. The actual day and time is to be determined and I will notify families using BrightArrow. Families who would like to purchase a yearbook can still buy one on the day of distribution for $20 - cash only. If we have extra copies, I will be selling them at the beginning of the school year in August 2020.

Well Cabrillo Families, this will be my last Covid-19 address for the year, a year we shall all surely remember. Bless you all and stay safe.
